How to Read a Joint Supplement Label

A field-by-field guide to serving size, ingredient forms, amounts, proprietary blends and other label details.

Editorial note: This page is educational, not medical advice. Product and merchant facts are checked against current seller materials; health claims are treated separately from merchant marketing.

Quick take

Start with serving size. A bottle may advertise 60 capsules but provide only 20 or 30 daily servings if the serving requires multiple capsules.

What matters most

Next, record each active ingredient, its chemical or botanical form and amount per serving. For botanicals, look for the plant part, extract ratio or standardization when supplied.

How to interpret the evidence

Check 'other ingredients' for capsule materials, colors, fillers and allergens. Then look for warnings and storage directions.

Safety and practical considerations

Do not treat badges such as 'natural' or 'science-backed' as substitutes for the Supplement Facts panel. The useful comparison lives in the specifics.
